Formicary Ltd, an IT consultancy firm specialising in providing solutions for the Financial Services industry, is pleased to announce that their Chief Technology Officer, Hani Suleiman has been elected to take a seat on a Java Community Process (JCP) Executive Committee (EC) which guides the evolution of Java technologies. Other nominees included the corporations Intel, EMC and IONA.
The Executive Committees comprise of major stakeholders and other representatives of the Java Community who shape how Java technologies evolve by developing and revising technology specifications, Reference Implementations (RIs) and Technology Compatibility Kits (TCKs), which influence all standards-based updates and improvements.
There are two Executive Committees: Standard/Enterprise Edition (SE/EE) which oversees Java technologies for desktop/server space and the Micro Edition (ME) for the consumer/embedded space. Every year two seats become available for election on each committee and then voting is carried out by JCP members. The ECs are made up of 15 people each serving a 3 year term with a permanent seat being held by Sun Microsystems. Hani Suleiman, who is already on the expert group of 4 Java Specification Requests and writes for the Java Developer Journal, was elected ahead of both individuals and corporations to take up his new position on the SE/EE Executive Committee.
After the results were published Mr Suleiman said “I'm honoured and thrilled to be elected onto the Executive Committee.
